From the Mind of Jugel

Echoing the deepest traumas and the greatest strengths, CJ Jugel is a Queer Feminist oil painter turned comic writer and illustrator who focuses on her experiences with life, love, sexuality, sexual trauma, and the body.

Hungry to explore memoir as a form of healing and self-expression, CJ creates with a desire to illustrate and elaborate on her lived experience, from recollections of failed relationships and failed orgasms to reimagining and reinterpreting her childhood.

Located in the San Francisco Bay Area, CJ is often influenced by kink culture and erotica, as well as woman and queer-centric storytelling, to create a body of work that is both personal and human.

Conflicted by her positive and negative experience of womanhood, CJ finds comfort in the self-identifier, “Woman-Adjacent,” but ultimately does not conform to one single gender unification term.

CJ is currently working on her full-length debut graphic memoir following her childhood experience of online child grooming and the power of healing through art and storytelling.
